Day Trip Tip: Kahler Asten in August: Heather in Bloom on the Roof of Westphalia
At 841 metres, the Kahler Asten is the second-highest peak in North Rhine-Westphalia – and the most colourful in late summer. From late July into September, the heather blooms up there, and the bilberry bushes turn red in between. We were up there ourselves in mid-August and brought the photos back with us.
